Our fabrics for sunshades

For our solar screens, we offer various types of cloth, usually Sergé cloths are preferred. Sergé fabrics are made from woven fibreglass threads with a PVC coating. This type is widely chosen because they retain their shape and colour and are resistant to moisture and heat.

There are different types of Sergé cloths on the market. To determine the right choice for each room, it is best to consider the openness factor and the colour of the cloth.

Fabric openness factor

  • Sergé 1% has a very low openness factor. This makes it the ideal privacy fabric. Privacy is minimised.
  • Sergé 5% has a higher openness factor. If you want a better view of your garden, for example, you should choose a fabric with a higher openness factor.

 

Fabric colour

The colour of the fabricmay seem like a personal choice at first, yet colour can make a world of difference. It is best to take the following rules of thumb into account:

  • The darker the colour of the fabric, the better the see-through to the outside and the less the see-through to the inside.
  • A lighter fabric brings more daylight into your living environment.
  • Blackout screens are recommended for use in the bedroom.

We offer different types of fastenings and control systems for our solar screens. Which type of solar screen is most suitable depends first of all on your project: is it a new construction or renovation? In addition, you can also choose whether you want the box placed on top of the window frame, in front of the window or wall or, in the case of a new building, integrated into the wall cavity. Electric solar screens are almost a given today, but in addition to a wall switch or remote control, you can now opt for an app, home automation system or solar screens. 

Fixation

For built-on screens, the casing is placed on top of the window frame. They are the ideal solution for outdoor sun protection during renovations, suitable for both PVC and aluminum joinery. Operation is standard electric, using a Selve or Somfy motor.

For surface-mounted screens, the casing is installed in front of the window or wall. These screens can be used for both new builds and renovations, as well as for patio coverings. Operation is standard electric (with a Selve or Somfy motor) or solar-powered (Solar screens – Electric with solar panel (Somfy)).

For built-in screens, the casing is integrated into the wall cavity. These are the ideal solution for outdoor sun protection in new builds. Operation is standard electric, using a Selve or Somfy motor.

Control Systems

Electric control using a wall switch or remote control has become a standard. It’s easy, smart, and comfortable. To further maximize your convenience, our screens can also be controlled automatically via your smartphone, tablet, or PC. A dedicated app allows you to operate the screens remotely and program your preferences. You can also choose to control your sun protection centrally through a home automation system. In addition to the classic electric control, solar-powered operation is now also available.
